I've been getting some visits from blogsrating.pw & kmzackblogger.com lately. I was wondering has anyone else come across this problem. It certainly looks to me like a problem because blogsrating.pw is a weight-losing website, and has nothing to do with rock n' roll, nor does it have any links to my blog. I'm not sure about kmzackblogger.com.
Any help/tips are appreciated. Feel free to make a comment below.

Thanks for all the input you guys have provided. This particular post is increasing becoming one the most-read on my blog. It's very surprising given that my blog has nothing do with internet technicalities and such. But I guess it's pretty indicative of how widespread this spam bot problem is...

Just for everybody's reference, if you are one of the people who happen to be getting spam visits to your blog, do you mind leaving your location, i.e. city and country. For example, right now I'm in Toronto Canada. I want know if everybody from around the world getting spammed, or if it's just a North American problem.
I've recently come across two new spam sites: flf-course.com and t.co. I know for sure t.co is coming from Russia, and as for other one, I don't know its location.

I'd like to let you guys know that my blog has more than this page. It seems like people largely visit this particular page and then leave without checking out other articles. I've got some interesting articles on songs, musicians and bands. Here's a few:

Hi there, yes I'm getting visits form teh weightloss website blogsrating.pw as well, I trawled through it wondering how it came up in my blog visitor stats and couldn't work out how a site without external links can have been the source of clicks - my blog is about music as well. Perhaps there is a bot trawling for certain keywords and spamming sites like ours with hits to attract attention to itself. Bizarre waste of time though, no?

DeleteI get this annoying stuff as well, and complained to google about that already. Let's see what they can do.
ReplyDeletethe only thing we can do is not click on the link. Every time you do you tell it you like its work. I have an art blog and a blog about all me geeky facets. So I do get a lot of people from around the world visiting (I love German pop music). But almost nothing listed in the stats is from a legit site.
ReplyDeleteI know better and accidently clicked one while I was trying to right click and open the menu to look at the properties for the URL and it's been messing me up ever since. Today I got sent to a world soccer fan site so I am thinking that the Hungarian author is a legit inquisitor of my work.... but that is rare to find.
I got several hits, from several countries, from that same source. My blog is about Florida history, but one post includes a pop culture reference to Johnny Depp playing Tonto in the new Lone Ranger movie. I'm guess that is the only connection.

DeleteI'm getting hits from them too and my blog is about taking care of elderly people www.theblackpantbrigade.blogspot.com. I am a care giver and I write about what I go through, decisions families have to make with regards to taking of their parents etc. It's very informative, some blogs are funny others serious.

ReplyDeletet.co is just link shortening site (used by Twitter and others). These spammers use them to disguise where their links are coming from. (Also to make it look like it was a referral from Twitter.)
ReplyDeleteYou can check where a shortened link goes to with the LongURL service. It won't tell you where it comes from, but just knowing where it's directing you to ahead of time is a good indication of whether it's a spam link or not. (A legit link should be aimed at the page on YOUR blog being visited.)

ReplyDeleteThey're spam bots from what I can tell and it seems that the only thing we can do is ignore them, sadly. I did click one which I believed to be a twitter URL, but that wasn't the case, I haven't run my anti virus software yet though so I can't say if the websites have viruses or not.
I'm in England, so it's not just a North American problem, either.
"t.co" is a redirect form Twitter. It's not spam - those are readers!

ReplyDeleteSo t.co visits aren't from twitter; if it's one or two, then I can understand, but my stats page is showing much more than that. I don't think my blog is THAT popular just yet to so many twitter visits.
